Environmental Policy and Legislation
We have experience in analysing nature conservation, environmental and land-use planning policy and legislation. We can provide research and analysis relating to the following:

- European Directives, in particular the Birds and Habitats Directives
- aspects of land-use planning legislation which have implications for the natural environment
- Policies which have direct or indirect impacts on the natural environment
Habitat surveys
We can provide:
- JNCC Phase 1 habitat surveys
- River Corridor surveys
- Botanical surveys
- Hedgerow surveys
Other Flora and Fauna
Lepidoptera (and in particular moths) are a speciality. We can provide:
- Survey of sites and habitats for moths
- Monitoring programmes
- Management advice
- Training on moth identification and survey methods
Other Fauna: we can sub-contract a variety of skilled associates who se specialisms include Carabid Beetyles, Fungi, Bryophytes, Bats etc.
Environmental Impact Assessment
We cover any project requiring an EIA, including windfarms, roads, housing, agricultural improvement, afforestation etc.
Our EIA services include:
- Baseline surveys of flora and fauna, including Lepidoptera (both moths and butterflies)
- Habitat survey
- Development and implementation of monitoring programmes
- Evaluation of impacts
- Proposals for design and mitigation
In addition to involvement in the preparation of EIAs we also have extensive experience in analysing the ecological aspects of EIAs for compliance with both good practice and EU and national legislation.
Biodiversity Advice and Training
We provide advice and training services on a wide range of biodiversity issues. This can range from on-site ecological advice to formalised training sessions for your organisation.
